What a Disaster like Chernobyl can tell us

Episode Summary

In this episode I use a historical event to prove the dangers of Communism and why we should be teaching our kids that Western civilization has benefited men more than any other government in human history.

Episode Notes

I would like to tell you a story. It's not a story with a happy ending, frankly it's sad and absolutely astonishing.  But I feel it is important to tell it because it segues into what I want to talk about today.

The date is April 25th, 1986 and the time is roughly midnight.  While most of the residents of a city are getting ready to go to sleep, night shift workers are already starting their shifts at a local power plant..

A test was to be conducted at around 12:30am, unknown to the workers and at an unusual time.  The plant had been running at a maximum capacity and would need to be slowed or shut down before any such test could be conducted.

employees were assured it was fine and to proceed anyway…. So they did reluctantly.

At approximately 1:30am there was a massive explosion at the plant, waking every soul in the city.  Blowing out windows and setting off car alarms.

Everyone awake rushed to their windows to see the power plant on fire.

The fire department would be the first to the scene. Anxious to do their jobs and put out the blaze.

citizens would make their way outside to watch and see what was going on.

Some made their way to a bridge that had a better view.

What the fire department and the people of that town didn't realize was that a nuclear reactor had a meltdown and exploded. Sending dangerous levels of toxic radiation into the air.

Of the  134 responders in sight, 42 would die from radiation exposure.

And all the citizens on the bridge would later die from complications to radiation poisoning.

The city was Pryp’yat, and the power plant was named Chernobyl nuclear power station.

In the moments after the explosion, leaders in the area would not discuss how to fix the problem.  They would not even acknowledge the truth and severity of the disaster.

Instead they discussed how to manage the optics and keep this disaster underwraps from outside sources, such as the US.

In the wake of what could have been a world ending disaster, Soviet leaders overseeing Pryp’yat and the Chernobyl nuclear power plant would try to cover up their mistakes instead of issuing a national emergency and evacuating its people.

Because of this stalled response its likely that thousands of locals would be poisoned by radiation, and many would die.  The true death toll of the Chernobyl incident is unknown.  Its like over 100 thousand people died from that event either immediately or years later from health complications.

It was later found after investigation that the reactor had a meltdown because the employees performing the test were not properly trained, or educated enough to do their jobs let alone perform such a test.  And because the reactor was made using cheap parts such as graphite rods, this caused a reaction which created unstable amounts of energy.

1500 square miles quarantined, to this day you can not access areas of chernobyl becaue of radiation levels.

Countless animals dead, forestry ruined.

And as stated before hundreds of thousands, dead or with life altering diseases from the event. Of course numbers show far fewer and really we have no idea what the real death toll is because much of that information has been kept secret from the then government Soviet union.

Shockingly, they would hide such information.

Why am I mentioning this disaster? It's an event most know about. It is not new information. HBO has a great mini series on the event that I recommend everyone check out.

I mention this because the disaster itself overshadows a much deeper problem.  And that is communism.

Today we here buzzwords like socialism, or the latest democratic socialism..

But the reality is both are the same, and both lead to inevitable communism.

People on the left will argue this is a right wing talking point but history hath shown this to be true.

You can not call for a socialst government and quote Marx and tell me this won't lead to communism.

This event in Chernobyle is a direct reflection on communism and its disastrous polices.

Why…

  1.  Communism breeds bottom up economics. Where the 1% has everything while the rest have absolutely nothing and give it all back to those who have everything. In this case it is the government. At least in most cases. Then that is redistributed,  poorly.

This creates a poor economy, bread lines, and forced labor through things like a gulag (prison camps). leaving the state with limited to no resources.  With the Soviets dumping everything they had on the war machine it left them skint in other departments.  Hence the cheap materials such as graphite in the reactor.

  1. The mass redistribution of wealth creates a lack of industrious persons, people seeking for greatness.  After all why bother, the state will take their share and leave you with the same as the guy who sweeps floors.

This means less qualified labor.  It's no wonder why many men worked the coal mines in Soviet Russia, those men had real power, they controlled much of the States power source.  They dictated the terms… they didnt put up with your crap and they weren't scared to walk out and prove it.

These men are also part of the reason other reactors didn't melt down, they risked their lives to essentially save the world.  The lack of qualified labor meant the men running the nuclear power plant were too young and unqualified to do it.  Heck they were reading instruction manuals on how to perform the test and could not even understand the manual!

  1. Communism for what it's worth, and in history has shown us that a great deal of corruption and secrecy evolves from its politics.

You could say this isnt the case of communism but simply the Soviets because of their founding.  Fair enough, but what of communist Mao in China?

Because of this corruption the Soviet Union was more concerned with its reputation and hiding the problem from the world.  When the world could have been helping sooner… The corruption led to men having to risk their lives to tell the truth of the situation, their careers, and their reputations would be destroyed because they stood up for what was right, while the government would not.  Even after the catastrophe was under control the soviets would deny and withhold information.

Communism has killed more people than it pretends to help.

In the communist soviet union, roughly 61 million killed

And in communist china under Mao? Roughly 78 million.  This does not include the Nazis under Hitler, or Pol pot…

These victims perished during state-organized famines, collectivization, cultural revolutions, purges, campaigns against “unearned” income, and other devilish experiments in social engineering.

Even after the fall of the Soviet Union you still see Russia and its people struggle to get by and recover from the destruction under that tyrannical government.

China to this day continues its treachery with nazi like concentration camps (work camps) and the mass genocide of Wegar muslims.

And yet for some reason we have to explain, with great compassion to the youth and some not so young individuals the dangers of a bloated government rooted in socialism.

You give the government authority over your lives such as income, and health it will eventually take total authority over you.  After all, there's no such thing as a free lunch.  Eventually the hand that feeds you begins to pull your strings like a puppet.

In 2020 we saw a collective agreement from the media, corporations, and private citizens to relinquish their rights for what the government would call safety.  In the end we were no safer, we were lied to, misled, and now we still have not gotten the rights we gave up back.  At least not in full.

With talks of vaccine mandates, vax papers, and restrictions on those who aren't vaxxed. It sounds more like 1930s nazi germany than the united states.  “Let me see your papers”

And with Democrats pushing the needle further left with ideas such as socialized healthcare, universal basic income, free education including debts wiped clean… Its a recipe for disaster.  Not only can we not afford these programs even if we taxed the rich at 100% and cut all military funding, it wouldn't cover the total yearly amount for these programs… but it would give the Government, in this case Joe Bide, and Nancy pelosi direct control over your lives.

And for those of you who hate Trump, just remove Joe Biden and add his name.  Ya, now you’re scared.

The reality is while Capitalism isnt perfect, and not everyone is thriving, the majority is. Because of western civilization and capitalism the national poverty level is the lowest its ever been in human history.

According to world bank.org

The percentage of people living in extreme poverty globally fell to a new low of 10 percent in 2015 — the latest number available — down from 11 percent in 2013, reflecting steady but slowing progress, World Bank data show. The number of people living on less than $1.90 a day fell during this period by 68 million to 736 million.

The fact is as humans we are doing much better, living much longer, and overall have better lives because of capitalism.

Yes sure in Capitalism there is a 1%, but that does not mean that the 99% outside of that one percent is bad off.  If you’re going off money alone the average income in America is over 68 thousand a year.  Well above the average cost of living for a family of four that is roughly $57K…

But money doesnt solve everything certainly isnt what brings happiness, Sure its helps.

But look around you, grocery stores packed with food (for now, shortages are coming because of the draconian lockdowns, inflation, and shortage of workers). Hospitals, and doctors offices that can see you today, and specialists with low wait lines.

Not to mention the technology in your hand… the smartphone.

This all leads to a better life for everyone, this all came from capitalism. This tide is raising all ships.

So what there's a 1%... there's a 1% in everything, it's a natural truth to life.  Look at sports, look at who is the best and who scores the most goals.  Such as in basketball. You will see that 1% of the players overall make up the majority of the most talented.

These are just facts of life.  And what you want is the ability to go and join the 1% or at the very least get as close as you can, or live the life that you want to, and be the best you can be.

You can not do this with the government on your back, you can not do this with redistribution of wealth, you won't have any wealth, you won't want to break you back for the same pennies the bums are earning. It's unnatural.

You’re either lazy, competitive, or happy to do a job for a fair wage.  But you arent going to work for free, and not even to achieve your dreams, because you can't. It's not sustainable.

Ask yourself what has Russia given us? What did China give us? China steals are tech and uses slave labor to build it for themselves. They dont prosper..

Oh I know Germany, Germans brought us a lot out of the nazi empire, but not really.  They had some of the smartest people, doing the work for a mad man by force.  It was not until they were free to do their absolute best, and prosper from it and not off the backs of its citizens.

The nazi empire was doomes to fail just like the Soviet empire, they just had more resources in the beginning.

Communism is a parasite, it feeds off the people and its land until there's nothing left, but starvation, poverty, and few at the top waiting for the final days…

Capitalism is far from perfect, but its the best and most fair thing we got…

Wrap up.
